Everyone should bring....
  • Sack lunch for Wednesday
  • 5 gallon bucket and lid labeled obviously with your name and family
  • 1 warm sleeping bag (it may get below freezing)–put inside a heavy plastic bag
  • 1 old blanket (wool if possible)
  • 1 old coat (heavy and warm)
  • 1 rain poncho
  • Gloves (working, consider leather-your hands will blister without them)
  • Stocking cap and warm gloves
  • Visqueen--(enough plastic to serve as a ground cloth and shelter from the rain)
  • 1 pair of broken in athletic shoes (New shoes will give you blisters. Sturdy running or tennis shoes will
work best.  Hiking boots are ok, but tend to be heavy, inflexible and are likely to rub you wrong
which means foot pain and blisters.)  No open toe shoes.
  • 1 pair of extra shoes for river crossing and if your primary pair gets wet in rain.
  • 3 pair of thick, sturdy socks (Climalite or Drifit type fabric is best and may not need undersock)
    • 3 pair thin under socks (or nylons) - to wear under the thick socks to prevent blisters
    • 1 pair of warm, modest pajamas

DO NOT BRING:

Electronics of any kind - Cell phones, digital cameras, or any other electronic gaming, music, or
messaging device -- (There is no cell service anyway, and we have a photographer who will take
video and photos the entire time, so please leave your electronics at home, where they are safe
and sound.)  If you want to wear a Fitbit or similar watch, you may. Just know that there will be
no place to charge it and we won’t be responsible if it is damaged or lost.

  1. FYI On past Treks, the men and boys had issues with chafing from their pants rubbing. Putting deodorant or Friction Block (which can also be used on feet to avoid blisters) on the inside of the legs can help them from chafing.
