FAQs - also known as "Things youth may be afraid of..."




For those of you who are worried about toilets, food or have heard that trek is all about starving and walking until you can't take another step, read here!  :)

We want you to walk in the footsteps of the pioneers and appreciate their sacrifice, but we also don't believe it is necessary for you to experience everything that the pioneers experienced to do so.  In fact, to honor their sacrifices, and reverence their lives, there are some experiences we won't even try to act out.  Here are the answers to some questions that seem to be on the minds of our youth.

Will there be toilets? 

Yes!  Portapotties!  If you don't love them, just remember they beat the other options by a mile!  


Related image Will you be starving us and feeding us only hardtack and cornmeal mush? 

Image result for beef stewNo!  We will not be starving you.  You may eat some of the foods that the pioneers ate, but that is not all you will eat.  We will feed you, often and well!  Does that mean you will never be hungry?  No. You will be walking and working hard, so you will be hungry before meals, but we will have good food and snacks that will keep you going.  


Will we be walking from sun-up to sundown?

No.  We have a very specific trail planned.  You will walk a little each day, (a total of 20 miles by week's end), but there will also be time each day for games, bonding, cooking, scripture study, and engaging discussions geared to help you take the pioneer wisdom and spirit off the mountain and into your life.

Will it be hard? 

Image result for choose the harder rightThere will be times where you are tired and trek feels hard, but you can do it!  You will have your trek family and Stake leaders to help you.  We will help each other and learn and grow together.  Believe in your ability to accomplish difficult and great things in the strength of the Lord!
